The Beauty and Benefits of Blue Spirulina....she is a gift

Have you ever wanted to be kissed by the Ocean? Bottle this up in a simple kiss with Blue Spirulina.

Let's talk about it

What is Blue Spirulina

Per gram, spirulina may be the single most nutritious food on the planet.

Blue Spirulina is a blue-green-algae that grows in ponds, lakes and alkaline waterways. Phycocyanin is a blue pigment derived from spirulina which gives the algae its dark blue pigment when it has been extracted.  It is rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and antioxidants.

Spirulina has been widely known for its superior health benefits including:

1. Removing heavy metals and toxins - Spirulina can bind with heavy metals in the body and help remove them.

2. Source of Protein - Great source of protein for the vegan and vegetarian lifestyle choices.

3. May Aid in Weight Loss - Spirulina contains about 50-70% protein. When taken 30 minutes prior to a meal it can help you feel significantly less hungry.

4. Boosts Energy and Performance - Spirulina is known for its abundance of b vitamins which can boost energy levels.

5.Can help improve digestion and bowel health - As spirulina contains chlorophyll, promoting a healthy gut and digestion.

Anxiety Relief Benefits

How to assist in your RELAX and relief of anxiety

Spirulina can be used to treat mood disorders; since it's a rich source of tryptophan – an amino acid that supports serotonin production. When you are going through depression and anxiety you may have reduced levels of serotonin. Spirulina is a good source of tryptophan, an essential amino acid. Tryptophan plays an important role in your mental health, as it is one of the building blocks of the brain chemical serotonin. Low levels of tryptophan and serotonin can lead to conditions like depression and anxiety.

We are going deeper right now, keep up, let's go

This Blue gem has so many benefits, we had to share more

This tiny alga is packed with nutrients.

A single tablespoon (7 grams) of dried spirulina powder contains

  • Protein: 4 grams
  • Vitamin B1 (thiamine): 11% of the RDA
  • Vitamin B2 (riboflavin): 15% of the RDA
  • Vitamin B3 (niacin): 4% of the RDA
  • Copper: 21% of the RDA
  • Iron: 11% of the RDA

Oxidative damage can harm your DNA and cells.

This damage can drive chronic inflammation, which contributes to cancer and other diseases.

Spirulina is a fantastic source of antioxidants, which can protect against oxidative damage.

Its main active component is called phycocyanin. This antioxidant substance also gives spirulina its unique blue-green color.

Phycocyanin can fight free radicals and inhibit production of inflammatory signaling molecules, providing impressive antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Spirulina positively impacts your LDL levels. Spirulina can lower total cholesterol, “bad” LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, while raising “good” HDL cholesterol.

Protects “Bad” LDL Cholesterol From Oxidation

Fatty structures in your body are susceptible to oxidative damage.

This is known as lipid peroxidation, a key driver of many serious diseases

The antioxidants in spirulina appear to be particularly effective at reducing lipid peroxidation in both humans and animals.

May Have Anti-Cancer Properties

Some evidence suggests that spirulina has anti-cancer properties. Phycocyanin — the plant pigment that gives spirulina its blue-green color — has been found to not only reduce inflammation in the body, but also block tumor growth and kill cancer cells. The immune-enhancing protein is being studied for its potential in cancer treatment

May Reduce Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is a main driver of many serious diseases, including heart attacks, strokes and chronic kidney disease.

A dose of 4.5 grams per day has been shown to reduce blood pressure in individuals with normal levels.

This reduction is thought to be driven by an increased production of nitric oxide, a signaling molecule that helps your blood vessels relax and dilate.

Allergic rhinitis is characterized by inflammation in your nasal passageways.

It is triggered by environmental allergens, such as pollen, animal hair or even wheat dust.

Spirulina is a popular alternative treatment for symptoms of allergic rhinitis, and there is evidence that it can be effective.

May Be Effective Against Anemia

There are many different forms of anemia.

The most common one is characterized by a reduction in hemoglobin or red blood cells in your blood.

Anemia is fairly common in older adults, leading to prolonged feelings of weakness and fatigue.

May Improve Muscle Strength and Endurance

Exercise-induced oxidative damage is a major contributor to muscle fatigue.

Spirulina appears beneficial, as some studies pointed to improved muscle strength and endurance.

Are you ready to try this blue gem, yet?

Here at RELAX by Yeva, we have curated some simple blue spirulina recipes you can add to your RELAX with ease

Let's dig into it

Ocean Smoothie Bowl

Mix 3 frozen bananas, ½ teaspoon of blue spirulina powder, 1 tablespoon of vegetable protein powder, and a splash of dairy substitute (almond milk) in a blender for a healthy smoothie. Top with your fruit of choice and nuts. Inspiration choices, use passion fruit, dragon fruit, chia seeds, walnuts, and berries. Indulge in this bowl of heaven.

Ocean Latte

Heat 1 ½ cups coconut milk on low heat. When milk is warm, pour it into a glass bowl and gradually mix in ½ teaspoon of blue spirulina. If the mixture gets clumpy add more milk and spirulina slowly to even it out. Pour mixture into a blender along with 1 tablespoon coconut butter, 1 tablespoon Brain Octane oil, and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon. Blend until well mixed. Sprinkle with love and enjoy!

Ocean Breakfast Cakes

Combine 1 cup of self raising flour and 1 teaspoon blue spirulina in a bowl. Mash up one small banana into the mix. Then add ¾ cup almond milk, 1 tablespoon baking soda, 2 tablespoons sugar free maple syrup, and a dash of vanilla, and mix until smooth. Put a bit of coconut oil into a pan over medium heat. Then add the batter and flip over when bubbles form on the pancake. Top with fruit and serve.

Ocean Cream

Mash up 4 ripe bananas, 2 tablespoons water, ½ teaspoon vanilla, 1 teaspoon blue spirulina, and 1 tablespoon of honey. Freeze for several hours, stirring several times. A great way to freeze this is in frozen pop containers, what a treat.
